The O2 is OREA's answer to brewing more without compromising on what makes flat-bottom brewing worth doing in the first place.
Built as the larger sibling to the O1, the O2 shares the same original open bottom design that OREA has become known for. Rather than restricting flow, the open base lets the paper filter bend naturally through the center, directing water through the middle of the coffee bed for a more even extraction. The result is the kind of cup OREA is quietly celebrated for: a candy-like acidity with sweetness, balance, and body all present and accounted for.
The Darth Black is O2's launch edition, a deep semi-transparent black finish that nods to OREA's original V3 Glossy Black while adding heavier pigmentation. It's still see-through enough to watch the brew, which is more useful than it sounds.
Each brewer is molded from a single piece of Eastman Tritan, a BPA-free, food-safe plastic manufactured in the USA, then shaped by a family-run boutique factory in Taiwan. No injection marks, no flow lines, no moving parts to lose or replace. Just a clean, straightforward brewer that washes up in seconds.
Filter choice gives you real control here. Wave filters allow more bypass and airflow for a narrower, lighter brew; flat filters reduce bypass for a wider bed and a fuller, juicier cup. Pair it with an OREA Regulator and the O2 opens up to immersion and hybrid brewing styles as well.
Why We Chose This Product
We chose the O2 because it scales up what works about the O1 without adding unnecessary complexity. The open bottom design produces a consistency in the cup that's hard to argue with, and the flat bottom format rewards both beginner and experienced brewers equally.
What stood out is the filter flexibility. The ability to shift between wave and flat filters to adjust body and concentration makes this a genuinely versatile brewer, one that adapts to your recipe rather than forcing your recipe to adapt to it.
