COME DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE

How did we end up here?

Good question.

A few years ago, coffee was just coffee. Then we started asking questions.

Where did it come from?

Why does this one taste different?

Who's growing it?

One rabbit hole later, Somewhere Coffee Co. was born.

Today, we're a small roastery based in Sherwood Park, Alberta, focused on sourcing distinctive coffees and roasting them in a way that highlights what makes each one special.

We're big believers in transparency. Not because it's trendy, but because the people growing, processing, and exporting coffee deserve more than a footnote on the bag.

So we do our best to share the story behind every coffee we bring in.

No gatekeeping. No unnecessary jargon. No pretending every tasting note needs to be taken seriously.

Just thoughtfully sourced coffee, roasted with care, and shared with people who enjoy drinking it.

Seems reasonable enough.

THE WHOLE POINT

Our mission has never been particularly complicated: find great coffee, roast it thoughtfully, and share it with people who enjoy drinking it.

We believe every coffee has something interesting to say. Our job is to pay attention, roast accordingly, and avoid getting in the way.

means sourcing coffees with character, approaching each lot on its own terms, and spending plenty of time tasting before anything makes it into a bag.

We're also big believers in transparency. Whenever possible, we share information about producers, farms, processing methods, and origin because the people behind the coffee deserve more than a passing mention.

At the end of the day, we're just one stop along a much longer journey. The least we can do is give great coffee the attention it deserves.

A COFFEE WORTH CHASING

Sourcing is where it all starts.

Before a coffee ever reaches our roastery, someone planted it, harvested it, processed it, and spent months helping it become what it is. That's why we put a lot of thought into the coffees we bring in.

We're looking for quality, of course, but also transparency, traceability, and coffees that genuinely make us stop and pay attention.

We work with importers who share those values and who invest in long-term relationships with producers. The closer we can get to the story behind a coffee, the better.

Our lineup is intentionally varied. Some coffees are familiar and comforting. Others are bright, expressive, or a little unexpected. What they have in common is that they earned a spot here.

Whenever possible, we share producer information, farm details, and origin stories alongside the coffee itself. Not because every cup needs a backstory, but because the people behind it deserve to be part of the conversation.

Great coffee starts long before it reaches a roaster. We're just one small part of the journey.

MORE METHOD THAN MADNESS

Our approach to roasting is straightforward: every coffee deserves to taste like itself.

That means paying attention to what makes a coffee interesting in the first place, then roasting in a way that brings those qualities forward. Sometimes that's sweetness and balance. Sometimes it's vibrant fruit, layered florals, or something completely unexpected.

We don't chase a specific roast profile across every coffee, and we're not trying to make them all taste the same. Each lot is evaluated on its own, with the goal of finding the roast that best reflects its character.

Every coffee begins as a series of sample roasts. We cup, adjust, and repeat until we're confident we've found the right direction. Only then do we move to production roasting.

It's a process built on curiosity, consistency, and a healthy amount of tasting.

Our goal is simple: roast coffees in a way that highlights what made us excited to source them in the first place.
