Not every coffee brews the same way. The Regulators are OREA's answer to that.

Built on the same base design as the V4 FAST, the Regulators share the same even contact points and open drainage architecture that keeps brews from choking or stalling. The difference is what each one does to flow: rather than simply letting water move as fast as it can, each Regulator sets an intentional maximum output flow rate, enforcing a minimum contact time and giving you real, predictable control over how long water spends in the coffee bed.

There are three to choose from. The #2 in dark grey is the slowest, the #4 in black sits in the middle, and the #8 in orange is the fastest. Moving from fastest to slowest at the same grind size and recipe adds roughly 15 to 30 seconds of contact time, which also predictably increases TDS without touching your grind.

That control matters differently depending on what you're brewing. Hyper-processed, highly soluble coffees benefit from a slower regulator and a coarser grind, keeping funk and ferment intensity in check. Ultra-light roasts gain from the added contact time to avoid thin, grassy results. More developed roasts can be ground coarser without sacrificing extraction. The #8 was designed with immersion brewing in mind, pairing with the Hario Switch base for a fast, clean drawdown after steeping.

These aren't about slowing things down. They're about brewing with intention.

Why We Chose This Product

We chose the Regulators because they solve a real problem without overcomplicating the process. Flow control through the brewer itself is a cleaner, more honest variable than relying on paper filtration to do the work.

What stood out is the versatility. Three regulators mean one accessory set that adapts to almost every coffee in your rotation, from the lightest naturals to the most developed roasts, without requiring a different brewer for each.
